  1. Hello, this is he that recommended Ikue Asazaki a while back. (Glad you liked it by the way.)

I watched your Chopin recital - through all the fizz and hiss of room level noise and distortion and by watching your hands, it seems like you really can play. (Maybe this is akin to assessing the competence of a dancer at ballet by listening to the beat of footsteps across the floor... Forgive me if this comes across as a critique of your technique, just thinking out loud.)

Do you like The Rachels at all? I'm listening to Music For Egon Schiele at the moment and it strikes me that some of my great musical loves - doom and piano - can pair perfectly. Any suggestions for doomy solo piano?

    And Happy Birthday!

  2. Helloooo.

I know there was a lot of fuzz on that video, I'm just not quite sure how to get rid of that! In real life, I assure you, you can't hear any bees while I'm playing.

I've never heard of The Rachels! I'll look them up, because I really do like doomy-sounding piano. Well, are you talking about classical things or just anything? I really like the piano music of Shostakovich, especially his Preludes... Rachmaninoff's Etudes-Tableaux are extremely doommy. Hmmmmmm. Rudi Arapahoe's album Echoes From One to Another and Angelo Badalamenti's The City of Lost Children soundtrack are both things I might recommend. They are super sad and super beautiful.

Thanks for saying Happy Birthday :3 I'm a wommannn nowwwww it feels weird.

  3. Also, I've never thought of it quite like that, but by watching my hands I think you can get much more of a sense of my ability than listening to the sound... or maybe I've got it all backwards.

By the way, I got a record player for my birthday and I'm trying, really hard, to convert the tracks and post them here. They are all classical records, and I have tons of doomy piano things, sooo... yeah. :3
